Alternate ACCESS CAN DO Descriptors

The CAN DO Descriptors are to be used as an instructional assessment tool or as a tool for collaborative planning. They describe what students can do at each English language proficiency level by domain (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). They were originally developed by teachers and published by WIDA as resource to use in classrooms with English language learners (ELLs). The Descriptors were modified by the Alternate ACCESS project team for ELLs with disabilities taking into account varying accommodations and modifications that are common with these students.
